Time After Time

It’s been almost a year since I moved to southern California and what a year it has been!  Between the new job and five (count ‘em, five) theater productions, I’ve not had much time for anything else.  Not that I haven’t loved the time and the opportunities!  I’ve had a blast this past year.  And I’m excited about future opportunities to perform.  But I’m also excited about next Monday…

But speaking of the move…  My new job is almost a carbon copy of my old job, WITHOUT all the drama, and I love it AND the people.  I have a new place of my own and am getting settled in, and I love it, too.    I’m gradually getting out and about and really loving that!  And as of next Monday, I’ll have more time for all of that because for the first time practically since I moved here, I won’t be running to rehearsals or memorizing lines for the next play!  I never thought I’d be excited NOT being in a show!

I will admit I was a little disappointed when I wasn’t cast after the last audition; rejection is never fun.  But the disappointment didn’t last as I began to think about all the things I now had time for, things that I have long neglected this past year.  I just watched The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and I loved this repeated phrase, “There is no present like the time.”  I want to remember that as I will now be able to spend time with friends and family without having to rush off to rehearsals or performances.  I will now have time to explore and discover new places.  I will have time to make this new apartment mine and get settled in.  I may even have time to look at music again and write again.  Oh how I’ve missed that.

And it’s almost fall, my favorite time of year.  Time again for resolutions…

All this talk of time and I thought of this song, but couldn’t separate it from this movie.  So I found the best of both.  (Can't believe I haven't shared this song yet…)
