I can’t say World Cup fever has taken me, because I have to admit, I’m not much of a soccer fan. It has it’s moments, but I can take it or leave it.
The music, on the other hand, has been fun to discover and share. Though, as I said before, you probably won’t see the 2014 anthem here, because I’m not impressed by it. That aside, I’ve had fun sharing songs here and there leading up to the World Cup. Tonight is no different, though there may be more reasons I have for sharing it.
Rik Mayall, of English comedy fame, died on Monday, at the age of 56. If The Young Ones or The Black Adder don’t bring him to mind, then remember Drop Dead Fred. He was Fred! Yes, he was a great comedian.
In 2010, he made this video for the World Cup, but it didn’t really go anywhere. That should change this week with the video racking up tons of views and the song looking to break into the UK Official Singles Chart’s Top Ten. Here’s to you, Rik, rest in peace.
