Coldplay just released their second single from their upcoming album, Ghost Stories. Considering all that has gone on the last few days, this song is somewhat… perfect.
A side note… I don’t know if I ever shared my name’s meaning; at least the meaning as defined by JRR Tolkien. I found my name in the Appendices to the Lord of the Rings trilogy. It is the singular form of the name given to the Elves by the Valar when they were first found wandering in the starlight of Cuiviénen. It means “of the stars.” How cool is that? And yes, I’m an LOTR geek.
I remember looking at the stars as a child in West Texas. You can see a lot of stars out there in the middle of nowhere. You also realize your insignificance looking up at the stars. Interestingly, there’s some comfort in that… at least to me. Much like listening to the ocean surf soothes me, looking at the stars soothes me, too. Maybe that’s why. It’s my name.
