Spending time with my daughter and newborn grandson has been a most lovely thing. I look at her, this mother of three sons, and am amazed at the woman she is, the wife and mother she has become. I am grateful beyond measure for what God has done and is doing in her life and the life of her family.
I look at this newborn grandson and then at my older grandsons and am amazed to think that he will be following in their footsteps, yet forging his own path as they have forged their own. They are sons of their mother and father, yet they are individuals with lives and personalities of their own. I think about them (I PRAY for them) and their life choices as they get older. My heart’s desire is that they grow to be men of God, strong in their trust and dependence on God. I pray that they be allowed the hard lessons of life to grow them into strong individuals, yet not so hard that it breaks them. I don’t want them to suffer, yet I know it is in suffering that endurance and character develops and I want them to have strong character. I pray that I can help them along and not be a hindrance. My heart hurts, it loves them so.
