I took my grandsons and great-niece to see Despicable Me 2 when it came out. It was the first time I’d been to the movies with my grandsons, but I’d been told they could sit through a whole movie, so I wasn’t too worried. There was some concern on my part that it would be like the first time I took my great-niece to the movies.
She was 2 and a bunch of us, her other great-aunts and her grandma and I, went to see Finding Nemo. She sat through the first five minutes of the movie and then wanted to get up, and then she wanted to go down in front, and then she wanted to go play with the arcade games out in the lobby. Guess who wound up following her out and entertaining her while everyone else sat and enjoyed the movie. Was it her grandmother? No. Was it me? Yes. I got to see the first five minutes of the movie before heading out to the lobby and then managed to talk her into finally going back into the theater where we watched the last five minutes of the movie from the side entrance of the theater.
This time around, watching DM2, I got to sit through the whole movie, I got to laugh through the whole movie. It was lovely, even when my youngest grandson, who was sitting next to me kept taking sips of the soda between us. They had each asked for a small soda, but when I ordered small sodas and saw the size of them, I decided to only order two sodas and we’d share them.
He kept sipping away. And even when I told him that was enough, he said his mom let him, looking up at me while he was sipping away. I was afraid he was going to want to go to the restroom and I would have to take him and miss part of the movie, but my niece suddenly whispered that she needed to go. I asked Uriah if he needed to go potty. He said yes. I told her to take him with her. It was really quite lovely. This song is from the movie and commemorates that “Happy” time.
