I mentioned earlier that I’d bought a Roku box and then gotten rid of my cable. I subscribed to Netflix and Hulu Plus and have been enjoying watching quite a variety of shows… mostly British detective series. I’ve managed to watch most of Whitechapel and Luther. Ok, so maybe I was watching Rupert Penry-Jones and Idris Elba… Can you blame me?? I discovered Vera, starring Brenda Blethyn. I recently watched all the Endeavor episodes and have now started in on the Inspector Morse series after which I’ll watch the Inspector Lewis series again. And don’t forget MI-5. I’ll probably work my way through that again, as well.
Needless to say, I love it, love it, love it. Some of the shows are period pieces. Others are relatively current. I don’t want to call myself an Anglophile, but I would love to visit England and wander the places I’ve discovered through the shows.
I just finished watching Endeavor and have loved the opera thread that ran through the series. The main character, Endeavor, is a bit of an opera fan, so you hear the music throughout the episodes. I heard this song during one of the episodes and remembered how much I have loved listening to it in the past. This version is quite lovely.
