It’s a new year and I’m posting a song a day again. There may be commentary to go with each song and there may not, depending on the day and the mood and, in some cases, the time. Interestingly, I’ve found myself NOT listening to music on the radio as much this past year. While there was some great music come out (think Justin Timberlake), it didn’t happen often enough for me to listen to the radio hoping to catch a song I liked among all the songs I DIDN’T like (think Robin Thicke). Oh, btw, these song selections are based on my personal preferences… just sayin.
So… who gets to start off this year…? Drum roll, please.

I think I’ve talked about it before, but I like him. I like his music. I love the lyrics. They’re honest and speak to the mess and madness in which we so often find ourselves. After I heard this song, I had to listen to entire LP, The Marshall Mathers LP 2. Powerful. Poetic. Wild and crazy.
That said, I think Monster is a good choice to start the new year. The past year has been one filled with madness, sometimes run amok. Maybe this year, I can manage the madness a little better…
