366 Day Project-Day 286-Vaseline Machine Gun

Leo Kottke is playing downtown tonight.  Had planned to go see him, but time and money got away.  I got to see him in concert many years ago.  He was performing with the late Michael Hedges and it was a most amazing evening.  I was fascinated by their different styles.  Michael was all over the stage as he performed and I was taken by the performance as well as the music.

Then Kottke came out with a stool and just sat… and blew us all away with his guitar playing.  Truly he was the master and I was awestruck by the performance.  He has a very funny, self deprecating sense of humor.  I still remember him saying about demonstrating one of his favorite techniques, “I’m going to take a lovely, simple melody and drive it into the ground.”

I found this live version of him doing that very thing with one of my favorite songs.
