Just read today that “The Hobbit” will be made into a trilogy. Ooh, just writing that gave me goosebumps! I read the Hobbit years ago as a young adult and fell in love with Middle Earth. I then followed Bilbo and Frodo through Middle Earth again when I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I’ve read the trilogy seven times since then and am working through it again; there is such depth and spectacle and magnitude to that story that it’s new every time. I’ve read the Hobbit four times and may have to read it again prior to the movie coming out, but my heart belongs to the LOTR.
I did love the LOTR movies. Granted, there were parts that were omitted and elaborations that weren’t in the book, but on the whole, Peter Jackson caught the epic beauty of that story. I still remember gasping when I saw the Shire for the first time in the first video. Oh, I also have the extended versions of the movies… in one lovely box set… and I’ve watched all the extra features and listened to the commentary. But then, I also read the entire appendices to the books.
Do you get that I love this story? Then it’s no stretch of the imagination to think that I’m ecstatic over the development of the Hobbit into three movies. Thought I would find some music to celebrate this story…
