Farewell Ellen Muriel Deason, better known to her fans as Kitty Wells. I grew up listening to Kitty Wells, Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. They all were the voices in my head at an early age, these queens of Country Music and though I’ve walked away from Country time and again, it still resonates with me. It’s part of who I am. Given a choice of genres, I will choose Rock, or Alternative, or, for want of a better term, New Age, but my roots lie in Country and it has it’s place in my being, at the beginning. There are those who say that Country birthed Rock and Alternative and maybe they’re right. And, if so, the women I mentioned above were, in essence, our Mothers, the lyrical voices in our heads. So goodnight, Mother. Rest in peace, Kitty Wells.
