I’m not big on reality shows, rarely watch them, think they’re so contrived and artificial, there’s nothing “real” about them. That said, I really like “The Voice.” I like the coaches and love all their trash talk as they vie for each contestant. I really like the show.
I watched all last season and cheered Javier Colon’s victory. I’m excited about the new talent showing up for the blind auditions this season, and one of them is even a local girl, Lindsey Pavao (Yay!). Her rendition of “Say Aah” was unique and original. I’m looking forward to seeing what else she does.
But it was the last contestant of the evening that got to me. I was touched by her story and she was so nervous, but Angel Taylor pulled out Adele’s “Someone Like You” and made it work. I was nervous when I saw that she was going to perform that song because it’s… Adele! But she did it! I was glad to see her choose Adam Levine, too.
Now this video isn’t of Angel, but only because contestants only sing a portion of the song for their audition. We’ll have to settle for… Adele.
