I started reading Steve’s blog a few years ago when I first started looking at the Emerging Church and the various names that were being linked with it… Mark Driscoll, Brian McLaren, Doug Pagitt, etc., etc., etc. Interestingly, that was also the time that I found myself being drawn to Reformed theology and doctrine. As I read and studied and prayed, I found myself moving away from the Emerging Church movement and toward Reformed theology and the Young Reformers and I began reading blogs of the likes of Mark Driscoll, Justin Taylor, Tim Challies, and Steve McCoy. They pointed me to works by Tim Keller, John Piper, Ed Stetzer, DA Carson, and on and on. I have been blessed by reading their writings and so many others as God has used them in my life to form my understanding of Him.
As is often the case in the blogosphere, I’ve gotten to know them and their families through their blogs and this is just such an instance. I have gotten to know the McCoys, Steve and Molly and their four adorable children. They have shared their lives and they are now sharing this chapter as well as they endure another surgery for Molly to repair work that was done last year on her brain (that looks weird when I type it, but you can read more about that here).
All of that to say this, keep this brother and sister in Christ in your prayers. As you go about your day, when you think of them, please pray for them and their four children who are staying with friends during this time. The surgery is tomorrow morning at 10AM Central Time.
