Graduation

“Mexican-Americans…don’t like to get up in the morning…

but they have to…so they do it real slow.”

Mr. Richard “Cheech” Marin was the guest speaker at my son-in-law’s graduation from Cal State Northridge in May.  That verse was his opening for the commencement address.  I considered it quite appropriate since the School of Humanities graduation ceremony was scheduled for 8:00AM, which meant that Matt had to be at the school by 7:00AM, which meant we had to leave his parents’ house at 6:15AM, which meant Matt, Mandy and I had to be at their house by 6:00AM, which meant I had to be up at 4:30AM, to allow time for all three of us to get ready at the apartment, particularly since one of the three is seven months pregnant!  Not a problem, unless you don’t get to bed until midnight…

But he did it!!  Of course, that leads to the joke — Yesterday he was a college student… today he is unemployed. 🙂
