Brett Dennen

Have you noticed the increased amount of contemporary music lately that is played during a show, or at the end.  I can’t remember what show I used to watch that would tell you, at the end of the show, the names of the albums or musicians that you had heard.  Maybe it was Dawson’s Creek, perhaps.  I don’t know if you’re like me, but often now when I’m watching a program and i hear a song that I like, I go to my computer and google whatever snippet I can hear in order to find out who sang it.  It’s almost a game now, to try to find the name of the song and/or singer and then try to locate a song clip to play just to make sure before the tune is replaced by some commercial jingle.

I played that game last night with a song that I heard on "House".  How amazed was I, when I found the artist, that he hails from Oakdale, California!!  Also, he’s only a year older than my nephew, which means, if he was in the class ahead of my nephew, and my nephew was in the class ahead of my daughter, then… (carry the one…) he was probably in school when my daughter was in school!  I haven’t talked to her yet to see if she remembered a Brett Dennen, but it’s interesting to consider.

Anyway, in playing that game last night and finding Brett’s MySpace, I found the song that was played on "House" and I added it to my MySpace.  Brett has an amazing quality to his voice and the lyrics are fascinating,

"People walk a tight rope
On a razors edge
Carrying their hurt and hatred and weapons
It could be a bomb or a bullet or a pen
Or a thought or a word or a sentence"

I also added his album to my music list.  Hope you enjoy it as well.
